Mochima is the small village that gives its name to the Mochima National Park. This coast is a mountainous zone with beaches, gulfs and inlets of extraordinary beauty. Because of various micro-climates, some areas have gigantic cliffs nearly devoid of vegetation dropping into the water while others are lush with jungle vegetation and sandy beaches. Many small towns have sprung up along the 50km between the cities on either side, Puerto La Cruz and Cumaná, Mochima is one of them. It has no beach of its own but there are plenty of boatmen waiting at the waters edge to whisk you along to one of the many surrounding beaches. You can also arrange tours through your hotel and go out to the Islas Caracas for some snorkelling.

Getting there
Catch a Jeep from Cumaná to bring you into town.
