Mochima is a beautiful, green and inviting national park, spread across an area of 950-sq-km. There are close to three dozen scenic islands that vie for attention in the clear, azure waters of the offshore belt from Puerto La Cruz to Cumaná. They all fall into the Mochima Park territory. The landscape of the park also has a strip of mountainous surroundings bordered by attractive bays and beaches. With a hard to resist offer of almost 365 days of sunshine and warmth, the warm waters are a haven for a rich and unique marine life. If you wish to seek a piece of this action, then head to the islands during midweek, when only a few beach enthusiasts can be found scattered on the more distant islands.
Sightseeing
Though most of these islands are barren and deserted, they are intensely rocky in parts and offer some fine sand beaches that provide the perfect retreat for soaking up the tropical sun. Spectacular coral reefs surrounding some of the islands provide the perfect chance to go snorkelling in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea.
