Puerto Píritu is a coastal city in Venezuela's Anzoátegui State. Because of its beautiful beaches and lagoons it is primed for the development of the tourist industry. The town is home to a huge church, Iglesia de Nuestre Señora de la Concepción, that was built around the end of the seventeenth century. It houses some wonderful altarpieces that are worth a look.

Getting there
This tourist city is only 25 minutes from Barcelona and 45 minutes from Puerto la Cruz. Its access is direct by land from the main road along the coast, between Caracas and Puerto la Cruz. The access road, off the highway, is 2km before the town. There are regular buses running from both Barcelona and Puerto La Cruz.
