Puerto la Cruz is a Venezuelan city and port, in the state of Anzoátegui. Puerto La Cruz, Barcelona, Guanta and Lechería form a big financial and economic centre of eastern Venezuelan. This tourist city is also called the “Door of Eastern Venezuelan”. With good hotel infrastructure, this city is able to receive tourists from all over the globe. Puerto La Cruz is also the entry point of Mochima National Park, one of the most spectacular in the country. From its port, tourists can take a ferry to Margarita Island, and also hire a boat to take a ride to the neighbouring islands, such as Las Chimanas, Cachicamo and Borracha. At the end of the day, tourists and local people go to the Paseo Colón to take a walk, preparing their appetite for a nice dinner in one of the various restaurants of the area.
Around and closeby
In the canals of El Morro Tourist Complex, there are elegant neighbourhoods with their own docks, many of them with yachts parked outside. Go on a night boat excursion around the canals or visit the nearby shopping centre and go to the cinema.
Getting there
You can fly to Barcelona and then travel here by bus, or you can get a bus from Caracas or Cumaná.
