The Cerro Santa Ana Mountain rises to a height of 830m above the ground, and is easily visible from just about any point on the peninsula. The mountain has three peaks, and the tallest has the most dramatic profile. It lies in the western most direction. The mountain range ferociously guards its territory in 19 sq km area, and has been declared a natural monument and is under the purview of the Inparques. The vegetation on the mountain ranges from xerophytes species at its base to thick cloudy forest type vegetation at the top. You can even identify some orchids and bromelaids at the higher level.
Sightseeing
If you are in an adventurous mood and want to climb the mountain, then you can choose from two ways that lead you to the top. The main and more used path begins at Moruy and works its way towards the top for 800m along an unpaved road to the Inparques control point and a bivouac area. The trail from here is clean and leads to the highest peak. You'll take about three hours on foot to reach the summit and two hours to climb down. The second start point is the town of Santa Ana. From here, a rough road leads northwards to another bivouac location. This path leads you to the lowest peak in the east direction, you can also travel westwards to the main peak.
