The town of Moruy is at a distance of 6km from Santa Ana. Along with another neighbouring village, it is known for the production of silletas paraguaneras, or chairs made from the wood of cacti, from the cardon species. These are on display for sale at the roadside stalls.
Sightseeing
Moruy is a starting point for hikers who want to climb the dramatic Cerro Santa Ana Mountains. Moruy also has a lovely colonial church. The church was built in 1760, and is modest in its interiors. It has been planned beautifully with a well-proportioned and charming exterior.
Getting there
Buses and Busetas run to Punto Fijo, Pueblo Nuevo and Santa Ana on a regular basis.
