Pueblo Nuevo has a population of about 8,000 people, which makes it the largest town in the Paraguaná inland region. You will be surprised to find some fine specimens of colonial architecture, dating back to 1758, in the houses and a church that was remodelled in the 20th century. There is a small woodland, about 16 sq km, which is the only remaining forest on the peninsula. This forest is very important as it provides a habitat for many species of flora and fauna, besides attracting numerous varieties of birds in the Falcón State. The Montecano biological reserve is 7km west of Pueblo Bievo, and is run by the Infalcosta that is an institute setup in 1995 for the development and conservation of arid costal areas in Falcon. To see the birds, you must reach the reserve either early morning or late afternoon, and try to avoid the intense heat of the midday.

Getting there
Reaching Pueblo Nuevo is easy, as there are frequent busetas, por puestos and buses to Punto Fijo and Adícora.
