A village with a population of a mere 250 people, Paraitepui is an insignificant little place. Tourism has taken away the tranquillity and peace of the village, leaving the locals uncomfortable and insecure. When you reach Paraitepui, the Inparques rangers greet you and offer you a guide service. You may not need the service of a guide to take you up to the tepui, but you will not be allowed to proceed without taking one along.
Sightseeing
This hamlet is at a distance of 26km east of San Francisco, and in order to get there you can hire a Jeep or walk. The Jeep charges a fixed amount of money irrespective of the number of passengers. Paraitepui is located on the road that branches off the highway about a kilometre from San Francisco. This road is rather straight and the only point of confusion may be where it divides. The straight road at the divide goes to Chirimata while the road to this hamlet turns of sharply to the right.
