It is said that the popularity of a tourist destination is measured by the rise in prices during the peak season. Juangriego is no different. It stands in a fantastic location, being set on the edge of a beautiful bay in the north of Margarita. These backwaters are especially famous for their stunning sunsets. Juangriego is a fishing village with a beautiful clean beach along the bay. On a regular day, you can enjoy observing the activities of the traditional fishermen, the visiting yachts and sea birds. If you look beyond this scene towards the far horizon, you'll be able to make out the peaks of Macanao which are spectacular as the sun sets on them.

Sightseeing
The inland has a fort called “Fortin de la Galera” that holds a regal position atop a hill to the north of town. The fort is now a ruin, with just a few stonewalls, a terrace and a refreshment stall. You will find cosy couples arriving late in the afternoon and staying back to catch a glimpse of the magnificent sunset.
