Chivacoa is the point where you need to embark for Cerro de Maria Lionza, or the pious mountain that is the home to the religion of Maria Lionza. The town lies about 58km east of Barquisimeto, on the road that goes to Valencia. It also boasts of many perfumerias selling just about everything related to the cult. You must visit each of the shops to experience this religious phenomenon, which is a very unique and enlightening experience!

You will find a huge variety of cigars, candles and many other interesting items such as uncountable strange essences, perfumes, and scented lotions. You may also get attracted to the books and brochures on magic, witchcraft and foretelling. Familiarise yourself with this cult's temple, where every perfumeria has a full stock of deities depicted as colourful figures made of plaster.
