El Playón is the counterpart to Puerto Colombia and an important lodging centre on the western road with over a dozen places to stay. Larger than its counterpart, the town is not as attractive. Most of the lodgings are near the waterfront and the prices are hiked during the weekends (Thursday to Sunday) by at least 30%.

Getting there
Transportation can be picked up from the Maracay bus terminal, and buses to El Playón are available every hour from 7am to 5pm. Ticket charges can be checked at the terminal and it takes about 2 hours. You can also travel by the minibuses that depart from Maracay for El Playón every hour.
