Hatos is a large ranch dedicated to raising cattle in the same way as has been done for centuries. Now these ranches have begun to attract tourists and have thus turned to ecotourism. The owners have made lodges with tourist facilities and they also take tourists on excursions to give them a taste of the local wildlife. These excursions are mainly photo safaris in a Jeep or a boat and the visitors are taken deep into the wild terrain to watch the animals and birds in their natural habitats. A visit to Hatos is only possible if you opt for an all-inclusive package, which needs to be booked and paid for in advance.
