Santuário Nacional de Nuestra Señora de Coromoto is the holy site where the Virgen de Coromoto is supposed to have appeared in 1652. A chapel replaced a cross that had been placed at the site after this vision. The devotees of the Virgin visited the more popular Church in Guanare, which claims to have the holy image of the goddess.
