Perhaps the only reason for Tostos' popularity is the celebrations of Via Crucis Viviente, or a visually stunning theatrical re-enactment of the last days of Jesus' life. The Holy Week is the time when Tostos comes into limelight, while the crowds swell and become almost hysterical when Christ is crucified in the play. The occasion held on Good Friday, is a mix of popular theatre and religious ceremony - performed by the local residents of the town who play the roles of Christ, the apostles, and Roman soldiers. On other days, Tostos is a picturesque, sleepy old town nestled in the hills.

Getting there
The town lies about 12km south-west of Bocono and can be reached by Jeeps that run regularly.
