What is a City Ambassador?

Our City Ambassadors are based all over the world. As an Ambassador you will represent Just Go Guides in the city or town that you live in. You will be responsible for the collection and revision of any information about your area that goes into the guide. After all, who better to provide information about a place than someone who actually lives there?

We need you to give us the low-down on all the places of interest in your area such as hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, spas and tour operators. Visit them, gather some information, take a couple of photos and then get back to us with the details and your honest opinion. All establishments that are on our list need to be monitored, you'll have to keep a constant eye on them. Is your original opinion still accurate? Has the place gone downhill? Has it undergone any refurbishment or maybe changed hands? Any changes must be reported so that the information in the guide never goes out of date.

To be a City Ambassador you must be highly motivated, always alert and on the lookout for new places. Being there on the opening night of a new business is terrific. Naturally the quicker these places are entered into the guide, the better it will be for our users and also for your community. New places automatically attract new people.

We want to know about all the special events taking place in your area. Weekly, monthly, yearly or even one-off events will entice visitors. Details of these events need to be in the guide well in advance so that people have a chance to attend.

As a City Ambassador you need to know your town better than anyone, be aware of everything that goes on. City Ambassadors are an integral part of our team. Their constant input guarantees that the information we publish is always correct, relevant and up-to-date. Success in this job rests entirely upon you, the greater the effort you put in, the greater the rewards that you draw out. This is an independent position that doesn't involve selling anything. If you are more driven in a sales environment we also have positions for sales representatives, or you can combine both jobs.

Why would I want to be a City Ambassador

Many people apply to be City Ambassadors for Just Go Guides. Apart from being able to work independently on an interesting and straightforward project there are a number of other reasons.

Money

First and foremost, it can make you money. Once you are accepted as a City Ambassador you'll have the privilege of making certain establishments your own. Making an establishment your own is very simple. All you have to do is visit it, find out the relevant information that we ask for and take a couple of decent photos. That's it! From then on that establishment is yours and you will receive a share in any dealings it has with us. This is how it works:

Example 1:
There is a Hotel X in your area. You visit Hotel X, find out all the info we ask for, take a couple of photos and enter it in the guide. Hotel X becomes yours. Everyone that makes a reservation at Hotel X through the Just Go Guides booking service pays a $3 fee. From now on you will get 20% of the booking fee from every booking made through us.

Example 2:
An establishment buys some advertising space from Just Go Guides for $500. A percentage of that sum will go directly to you. This will be the case for all your establishments that buy advertising space from us.

Example 3:
One of your establishments decides to do a promotion for its customers. For this promotion the establishment pays $1 per customer. Your cut will be 20% of the promotional price per customer.

You will continue to receive 20% of the booking fee and the promotional fee for as long as the establishment is running. Naturally the same goes for every reservation or promotion in all the other hotels and restaurants that you make your own, and don't forget the additional money you'll earn from all the advertising space they'll buy.

Obviously the more places you make your own, the more you'll earn. You'll be surprised at how fast your money starts to build up once your businesses become linked with us. If you gather enough places, even just one booking, promotion or sale per day, per place will bring in a decent sum. Once you become a City Ambassador you will be given a secret password to your account so that you can keep track of your money as you earn it. All it takes is a little effort and you'll soon see the rewards start rolling in.

Respect

As a listing in Just Go Guides is free it's a really good deal for companies, giving them free exposure, every establishment wants to be on our list but ultimately it's you who decides which ones make the cut. Your opinion is what visitors will read so, a bit like a restaurant critic, you have the power to make places popular or not so popular. Like a true critic your most important qualities are honesty and integrity. Whether a place gets a good or bad review is entirely up to them, all you can do is tell the truth.

Help the Local Community

Thirdly, you will be doing something to help your community. Being a City Ambassador will give you a voice, it will give you a chance to promote your town and the places in it. Let the world know what your area has to offer. The more visitors coming to your town, the more money that gets spent in small local businesses. All too often smaller communities are overlooked by travellers simply because they don't know that they exist. Make sure your town doesn't go unnoticed by joining our team.
