Escuintla is the third largest city in Guatemala and one of the most important. Although it's a big place there isn't really a lot to see, but there is a frantic vibe in the air and it's a good place to soak up the energy and get a real feel for life in a coastal town.
Sightseeing
Below the plaza, stretching four blocks and ending up on Avenida 4, there is a huge, chaotic market. Also on Avenida 4 there is a mock castle that now houses the police station.
Getting there
Guatemala's Zona 4 terminal has buses leaving for Escuintla every 30 minutes.
