Punta Patiño shares its border and land with Punta Alegre and consists of a wetland, coconut plantation and nature reserve. It is situated at the mouth of the River Tuira and is close to the Pacific watershed. Punta Patiño is home to threatened species of flora and fauna and is a protected reserve for crocodiles, jaguar, puma, deer, iguana, harpy eagle, pelicans and sea birds. It has a vast area of mangroves and beaches as well as marshes. There are various eco-tourism expeditions organised by local guides throughout the reserve. If you love bird watching then you will find 68 species of birds out of which 5 are on the endangered list. There are 15 species of mammals out of which 12 are on the endangered list.

Getting there
You can reach Punta Patiño by flying down from Panama City and if you want adventure then use the three different combinations of foot, horse and canoe from El Real or Yaviza.
